In the city of <\/strong>Cherkasy<\/strong><\/a> there is a unique museum dedicated to the book Kobzar<\/em> by Taras Shevchenko. It is often called the only museum of one book in the world. The museum contains many rare editions of Kobzar<\/em>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August 2012, the museum received an antique copy of the second volume of Shevchenko’s poems, published in 1926 by the Chas<\/em> Publishing House.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first volume was published in 1925, and the second one was published in 1926.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book is unique as it has retained its original cover with an illustration of a Ukrainian folk carpet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book had a circulation of 10,000 copies. The copy donated to the museum has all of its pages, including the title page and table of contents, which is rare for publications of the 1920\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judging by the stamp Metalist Library,<\/em> the book had been kept in a library somewhere in the east of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
