 A<\/strong> crucial and highly relevant publication is the <\/strong>History of Ukrainian Culture.<\/em><\/strong>  It is the first publication of its kind, and was put forth by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine together with Bogdan Gubsky\u2019s Foundation Ukraine –  the XXI Century.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centuries old history of Ukrainian culture stemming from ancient times to the 21<\/strong>st<\/sup><\/strong> century,  is presented in 5 volumes and 9 books, with more than 9300 pages of text and illustrations. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 100 of the most prominent scientists, headed  by Borys Paton (who was the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine at the time), together with Bogdan Gubsky\u2019s Foundation have been working on the publication for 13 years. <\/strong>History of Ukrainian Culture, <\/em><\/strong> was recognized in Ukraine as the Book of 2001.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a fundamental work on the history of  Ukrainian culture originated in the National Academy of Sciences in the late 80’s and early 90’s of the 20th century.  This period was characterized by a revival of national spirit and humanitarian sciences and  new hopes of cultural expression.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foundation actively supported this project with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and participated directly in its publication. Mr. Gubsky was a member of the main editorial board of the History of Ukrainian Culture<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foreword of the first volume of History of Ukrainian Culture<\/em> placed the Bogdan Gubsky Foundation \u201cUkraine – 21st Century\u201d <\/em> among those organizations that aim to revive national cultural traditions, along with the Cultural Foundation, Ukrainian-American Renaissance Foundation, well-known philanthropists from the Western Ukrainian diaspora Petro Jacyk from Canada, Oleksa Voskobiynyk, the Danylenko family from the United States,  and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Volume 1<\/strong> History of Ukrainian Culture<\/em>: UKRAINIAN CULTURE OF THE ANCIENT POPULATION OF UKRAINE, 2001. The Naukova Dumka Publishing House<\/em>; Editor-in-Chief: Petro Tolochko, Director of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.  The first volume covers the historical period from the Stone Age to the late Middle Ages.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The main content of the first volume consists of 11 sections, which covers, in detail, the origin of culture and the process of cultural genesis in Ukraine as well the culture of its population in the late Paleolithic, Neolithic and Eneolithic, Bronze Age, ancient states of the Northern Black Sea, ancient Slavs and Kyivan Rus\u2019. All sections are illustrated with full color plates as well as black and white photos and drawings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Volume 2<\/strong> History of Ukrainian Culture:<\/em> UKRAINIAN CULTURE  OF THE 13th<\/sup>  – FIRST HALF OF THE 17th<\/sup>  CENTURY, published in 2001 by the Naukova Dumka Publishing House.<\/em> Editor-in-Chief: Yaroslav Isayevych, Director of the Institute of Ukrainian Studies; National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Academician at the National Academy of Sciences. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      In December 2001, there was a presentation of the first two volumes of the History of Ukrainian Culture<\/em> and the edition was recognized as Book of the year. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
